Social networks as a tool of online marketing





In some cases, it is already common for companies to have bi-directional channels (such as blogs, wikis, podcasts, among others) that allow direct communication with the user, without intermediaries. More recently, digital marketing specialists have seen in social networks a tool to enhance their activities, through social participation.

Among the many advantages of marketing in social networks, the most attractive for companies are:

- A very effective target audience segmentation, depending on the location, age or shared interests.

- The possibility of measuring the effectiveness of promotional actions, through the number of daily visits or followers.

- The flexibility to make changes immediately in advertising, to correct defects that have gone unnoticed.

- The low cost of investment and the consequent obtaining of a greater profit margin.

- Greater interactivity with the target audience, allowing more participatory communication.

With these new tools, audiences cease to be passive receivers of information, in order to become co-participants of communication with companies. This increases the confidence of different audiences in large corporations, because they feel more represented and identified with them.

Although for many it is a passing fad, everything seems to point to the fact that social network marketing is here to stay and that the possibilities of growth in that direction are abundant.
