The richest man on the planet has just announced a new philanthropic fund of 2 billion

Through a tweet, Jeff Bezos explained, in a long letter, the creation of this fund that will help finance a network of preschools, where donations will also be made to organizations that help people and families without homes. That is, we have two initiatives: 'Day 1 Families Fund' and 'Day 1 Academies Fund'.

According to Bezos, the 'Day 1 Academies Fund' will be responsible for launching and financing a new network of preschool schools. These new schools will be free, will be located in areas of low resources and will be inspired by the Montessori method.

While the 'Day 1 Families Fund' will consist in granting "annual leadership awards to organizations and civil groups that perform compassionate jobs that help provide shelter and support in order to meet the immediate needs of young families living on the street" .

This latest initiative is curious, since Amazon was the first and largest opposition to a bill in Seattle that sought to create a tax to finance shelters for the homeless and housing for low-income people. Amazon was adamantly opposed as this would cost $ 500 per year for each of its employees in Seattle.
